Constructive dialogue between Belarusian, Russian investigation committees praised

MINSK, 16 July (BelTA) – The constructive dialogue and the exchange of the best practices between Belarusian and Russian investigation bodies contributes a lot to the development of work methods. The statement was made by Chairman of Belarus’ Investigative Committee Ivan Noskevich as he met with Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin, BelTA has learned.

The meeting took place at premises of the Investigative Committee of Russia in Moscow on 16 July. Various other officials of the Belarusian and Russian investigation committees took part in the meeting.

Ivan Noskevich stressed that he values cooperation with the Russian side, including within the framework of trilateral sessions of the boards of the investigation committees of Armenia, Belarus, and Russia. “The Belarus president has previously mentioned the need for high-level cooperation between our agencies. Without a doubt, constructive dialogue, effective cooperation, and the exchange of the best practices between investigation bodies of the two countries make a considerable contribution to the development of methods of our work,” said Ivan Noskevich.

Alexander Bastrykin noted that cooperation between the relevant agencies of foreign nations is important for fighting corruption-related crimes. “International cooperation is also important for sharing the experience of criminal prosecution for corruption crimes and for the legal and regulatory framework in the anti-corruption sphere,” said the chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

The officials discussed a number of topical matters concerning fight against corruption taking into account the practice of providing mutual legal aid on criminal cases. Sending officers of the Investigative Committee of Belarus to Russia for postgraduate education and cooperation of the Russian agency with the Belarusian magazine on pretrial investigation were mentioned. As a result of the meeting the sides agreed that such actions help improve pretrial criminal proceedings.

The Belarusian delegation also took part in the international science and practice conference on corruption prevention and counteraction in the Moscow Academy of the Investigative Committee of Russia. Yuri Kamenetsky, an investigator for particularly important cases of Belarus’ Investigative Committee, made a report. He outlined current trends and the persistent improvement of methods used to investigate corruption crimes.
